Ceiling leak, what to look out for?
Long story short, I noticed that water was dripping from a recessed light in my condo (new renovation, old building). Turns out the leak was a result of the upstairs (unfinished) unit and a ceiling leak. The water seeped through the concrete floor, and found its way through some cracks in my ceiling. The water had been collecting on the sheetrock near a recessed fixture, and started seeping out. I called the builder and he sent someone to sweep up the water last night, but it started leaking again shortly thereafter. I was able to snap a few pictures by removing an in-ceiling speaker that was close to the fixture. It didn't look like a ton of water, but rather a small puddle. I was able to soak some of it up by reaching through the speaker hole and putting a towel in there.
I am having the builder come on Monday (local Durham developer) to take a look. What are some things I have to watch out for with this? Mold, staining? Should I insist that they replace the sheetrock around the affected area (ugh, don't want to deal with that, NOT PLEASED)?
Looks like a weekend of replacing buckets, towels, and dealing with the splash radius so my wood floors don't get water damaged.
