funny how i'm so unlucky then. My failed philips led was not in an enclosed fixture.
And i think users will know a bit more about the product's actual performance than a distributor.
not at all .we have to deal with the defectives . most are are warranted when they fail for quite a long time. we sell thousands of them and have very few issues . we sell many to industrial and commercial users who would return any that fail .
realize too that rated hours are the midpoint where equal numbers of lamps failed and are still going .

I swapped my entire house out to those Cree 60W and 65w recessed light bulbs. Under $3...why not?
My electric bill went from around $60/month, to $35-40/month. I have a LOT of recessed lights through the house, and usually the kiddos leave them all on.
I spent roughly $300 on the LED bulbs, and in the year since install, have almost paid for that in what I've saved. Not a single one has failed either.
Since you are in the industry, which LEDs would you recommend? Even some of the 'better looking' Sylvania's I have purchased from Home Creepo don't really look nice (color temp). No idea about longevity of course
I've been upgrading all my incandescent and CFL to LED as they burn out. I did upgrade all the recessed cans with the LED/trim kit for my family room and kitchen. Those 13 can lights were on all the time and we've saved lots of electricity with them. I did buy LED floods for the cans in the bedroom but have to change out the dimmers in order to use those.
I know prices of LED and other bulbs have come down. But I have a stash of incandescents I'm still using.
I also have a stash that Al Gore doesn't know about.
I am replacing incandescent bulbs strategically with LED's.
But I have two old 40-watt bulbs that say "HALCO" and "POLAND" on them that will probably never burn out. The came with the house, and that was in 1993.
I still use incandescent light bulbs for most fixtures. Don't care for LED light. What kills my electricity bill isn't light bulbs that's for sure...
