I hate compact fluorescents with a passion and I will surrender my incandescent bulbs when they pry them out of my cold, dead fingers.
Personally, I feel that fluorescents are harmful to one's health, they produce a hideous light unlike anything seen in nature, and I have to wonder what the benefit is when they contain mercury so that when they fail, they have to be specially taken to a hazardous waste facility.
I am, and not just 60 watters. 75, 90 (halogen), 100. The good kind that are less yellow than standard incandescents and less blue than LEDs. I refuse to sully the household atmosphere with CFL, except for one closet light.
We do not leave ANY lights on all night and frequently turn them off as soon as we are not in that room. Switching on and off frequently is better suited to incandescents.
I was in the electrical diistribution business and except for 2 leds in some frequently used fixtures i have all regular incandescent lamps. Being in the business i paid around .25 cents for them
I have a hord of incandescents, and enjoy using them. Almost all of them in my house are on dimmers, the ones that look like an ordinary switch but you move it slowly and the light responds dim up to full bright. I hate waking up in a motel room without my dimmable lighting. When incandescent lamps are kept below about 90% of full current, they last a long time. I must have 100 new, never used, old school bulbs in storage. Ha, ha, take that, Algore!
I do have a few CFL bulbs usually in places where they run damn near 24-7. The CFLs are being replaced by LED as they fail.
I did put a small LED in the fridge when the conventional bulb in it burnt out. As much to avoid the heat buildup from the conventional bulb and the chance to probably never have to replace the LED.
Ooh goodie. Glad I'm not alone. (I was nervous I'd be told I'm crazy for not going more energy efficient)
I stocked up three years ago with probably more bulbs than I'll ever use in this life.
I got a great deal on TWO 120 ct contractor packs.
(And given that I work nights and so five nights a week only my timer lights are on -- I use LITTLE electricity. I've been in my house more than 13 years and there are some bulbs I've never changed YET!)
I wish I had stocked up. I stuck my head in the sand and refused to believe they would actually stop producing them. This past week I put my last incandescent bulb into a fixture, and went off to buy more, only to find my local stores do not carry them. At all. Grrrr....
