me too, when I'm done with the old one I shove that one through the new disposer and rinse it on down the drain

I was reading the manufactors instructions on the darn thing that we bought and it says no hot water , no freshner beads the kind you buy to put down the darn thing , and all sorts of other things you should not use in it . I don't use it at all I hate it and my husband thinks they are the greatest thing you can have in the kitchen , yeah he would cause like a lot of men he is never in the kitchen LOL ...If I had my way that thing would not have come in this house ....I hate garbage disposals they are a waist of money in my opinion and not worth the effort and my sister in law took hers out and never replaced it she was over it .

Worrying about a garbage disposal ranks right up there with worrying about what side of the tissue to use to blow my nose.

Never babied one in 40 years. Never had a problem.

These clickbait articles just keep coming up with faux problems...

I just feed the scraps to the dogs. When one keels over from a heart attack, I just go to the pound and get a new one.

Did you guys know that garbage disposals were banned in NYC for years? It was a final jeopardy question a few years back.

I can't imagine not having a garbage disposal. I don't want the smell of food scraps hanging around until I have enough trash to take out. I also throw ice cubes in and baking soda when it gets stinky. I also pour boiling water down both kitchen sinks regularly to dissolve any grease.

Yes, I use bleach. I am not ashamed or repentant. I will replace it if the seals fail. The damn thing smells after a few days of not using the sink.

Why even have a garbage disposal if you aren't going to make good use out of it?
Bones I'd put in small resealable/tie-able bags so they don't stink - unless it'll only be a day or two until trash pickup - in winter it's not a problem.
