This article has some worthwhile considerations. How to Bleach Wood with Chlorine, Peroxide & Oxalic Acid

Of course, you will need to re-stain the wood back to the color of the rest of the floor, which will require some talent.

If the chemicals don't work and you want to try a spot repair, it IS possible to "lace" in wood. I've had it done in 2 different homes now and it seems like there are 3 tools needed. An air nailer (or two), a saw for cutting pieces to length and an oscillating saw to make exact cuts of the boards to remove.

I'd consider this a fairly advanced DIY job, though I've only watched it done.... it takes the pros a good bit of time to do the work, and it looks Very tedious. But, you might be able to salvage some of the deposit, so it's hard to just write off.

Land lords can be VERY picky. And they dream up reasons NOT to give back deposits.

I wouldn't waste my time or money. Chances are you aren't going to do it exact and will get hit for the cost anyway.

Maybe it'll take all your deposit.

I bought a house where this was an issue. Heck yes I wanted and got the floors replaced in this area. Dogs noses are very sensitive and my dog would go to that same spot to undo the other dogs smell by peeing on it.
