Seeking help with rather technical questions...Goal: to salvage R22 system

I have a Goodman outdoor air condenser model CLJ36-1A, S# 0110477124, that needs a new compressor. It is about 13 Yrs old. The compressor is a Copeland CR30K6-PFV-223, S#01H85023H.

Can I upgrade the CLJ36-1A condenser compressor to a new scroll unit? I understand a scroll unit would be superior. If possible what compressor brand & model would be compatible with a new Goodman A-coil CAPF3131B6 2 1/2 ton and who might be a good vendor? Also, what piston size would be required?

A "Frankendenser" will just cost you more money in the long haul.

Just update to the latest and greatest- besides, it comes with a warranty. Your Frankendenser won't!
