Yes, ditto from me to the plantation shutters. You can angle them downward so the dust doesn't show, but I angle mine in a way that lets the maximum light in, but also shows the dust. And it seems the dust is back two days later. I do have two white dogs who produce tumbleweeds of dust all over my floor, but as far as I know, it's not their fur up on the shutters. Anyway, something to think about....but I still love the look. Also, I have laminate in a "coastal pine" color that is white/beige/gray -- it does not show A THING. I can't believe when I sweep it, all the dog hair, but it blends in with the floor. I would scream if I had dark flooring with white dog hair.

The two things in my house that generate the most dust are my daughter's pet birds and toilet paper. I've also found that thick, chunky wool rugs release a lot of fibers into the air, which turn into long, furry strands of dust.

Ok, well....what do you suggest to do about the toilet paper? Seriously----I keep mine in a cabinet, but you have to take it out sometime! We buy TP in quantity at Costco, so----you have to open the bag sometime, then what?

Now for the pet thing, just make sure your flooring matches your dog/cat. That is, if you have a dark haired dog/cat, get a dark floor, or, a light colored floor if you have a light-colored dog/cat. But I have three black & white cats, WTD I know, I'll get the cats shaved, a lion-cut, then there's no fur to worry about!

I still don't know WTD about the toilet paper?

Having lived on the Praerie in Texas and now in Oklahoma - dust is part of it. I will probably write my memoirs on the dining table - in the dust 30 minutes after cleaning it.

Maybe you should get estimates for a whole house air filter system no matter which home you buy.

Carpet. I hate carpet, it holds every speck of every kind of dirt on earth and flings it up into the atmosphere every time you walk from here to there.
