I have had very good luck with outright used appliances from a local guy who does repairs. He knows what breaks and pre-emptively replaces those parts.

OP, in your situation, the renter is not going to know that you gave them a refurb, if it fails, just replace it like it was a new one.

No free standing appliances unless they are for my legacy tenants...

In 30 years one renter is on her 4th....

Two worked fine but the liner/shelves were cracked and trashed...

Last one is a new 16 cubic food from Home Depot for $299 delivered during the appliance weekend... and they hauled the old one.

At home my 1980 Amana is doing great...
