The fridge I am looking at at the Sears outlet store is "factory refurbished" and I think that means a customer returned it and it went back to the factory and was repaired. Its for a premium rental property with a high rent and has an upscale kitchen. New for this model at retail is about $2500; on sale I can get it for $1800; refurbished its $850 and looks flawless.
FWIW.. Certain models of Kenmore fridge. It's a huge markup. The $2500 is very inflated price. $850 is a good deal if you know what was repaired. I usually like scratched/dents appliances over a repaired one.
I have had very good luck with outright used appliances from a local guy who does repairs. He knows what breaks and pre-emptively replaces those parts.
OP, in your situation, the renter is not going to know that you gave them a refurb, if it fails, just replace it like it was a new one.
I need to buy a new refrigerator for a rent house I own. I travel alot and so manage properties virtually at times. So I don't want any appliance breakdowns. I found a screaming deal on a refurbished fridge at the Sears outlet store. But I am hesitant. Is this a good or bad idea?
Isn't this a rental house? Why would you put a refrigerator in it?
No free standing appliances unless they are for my legacy tenants...
