Copperheads all over the state, Water Moccasins in the eastern half of the state, Rattlesnakes in the east. Coral snakes too but they are scarce.
The only rattlesnake I've ever seen in person was actually in Minnesota, not somewhere you'd think to associate with them but the southeast corner of the state has some by the Mississippi River.
We lived in the woods for 26 years, although not in TX. Yeah, we saw snakes fairly often. The most irritating for me was when they hatched in spring and somehow ended up wriggling around under our front doormat. DH hates snakes and he would kill them. Then there was the black snake that holed up one summer in the ground near our driveway. I think he did not like our proximity, and he went away of his own accord.
Then there was the time I brought a pot in to the laundry room to repot, and snake wiggled out onto the floor.
Yeah, we had snakes.
If you fear and/or hate snakes, my recommendation is to move away from a woodland.
And with proximity to a woodland, you might also have visits from other wildlife you don't particularly like. Mice, bugs, spiders, woodpeckers, squirrels, raccoons. Just make sure you know what you are getting into.
I live close to Missouri City and I understand your concern. Do you have dogs? That would be my biggest fear -- that my dog would want to investigate a snake. In fact, many years ago there used to be snake-proofing classes for dog owners in this area, to make the dogs fearful of snakes of any kind.
If there are snakes in those woods, it would probably be almost impossible to keep them out of your yard. Just be cautious when reaching into any garden area and be extra cautious with your dogs.

Don't forget Bigfoot.
I don't think too many people are afraid of squirrels or woodpeckers.

I have an almost blind friend who was picking up sticks in the backyard. He was surprised to find one that moved in his hand when he picked it up and that it has rather sharp teeth.
Don't pick up sticks in your backyard unless you are sure than they won't be moving.
Snakes are cold blooded, they can't regulate their core body temperature like mammals. I think the OP has a snake phobia, I don't particularly like messing with snakes, but they are part of the bio diverse animal kingdom that keeps things going. They really don't mess with things bigger than them, like people, they pretty much stay out of sight and along the fringes looking for insects and rodents. If you don't have a lot of nice juicy bugs, or fat tasty mice, you probably won't see slithering snakes.
I might feel differently if I lived further south, where rattlesnakes and copperhead are common. We mostly have garter, hognose, and milk snakes, none of whom pose a threat to humans, cats, dogs.

I'm on 10+ acres of woods and while I haven't seen snakes yet, my yard people found two coral snakes when I was living in town on a 1/4th acre of just grass. Things I've learned so far in the City girl turned Cowgirl saga:
A, B, and C
A: Never go outside without footwear and that footwear is best when it is tall boots.
B: If at night, have a flashlight with you always.
C: Things like long hoes, perhaps a snake catcher, and even a revolver loaded with shot are nice things to have in one's inventory.

When we used to have dogs, they loved to catch snakes and toss them around. Fortunately, our snakes are mostly of the garter variety, with some black racers.
