??? Am I responsible for anyone's weird neighbor flying a drone over anyone's new house? No… But I am responsible for my own behavior with my drone. And I certainly have a personal and professional interest in helping to craft rules that make sense in this new world! Drones are not going away, I don't think. We will as a society figure out how we are going to live with them.

Really hard for me to believe there could be someone saying she is so totally indifferent to privacy that she doesn't care about people potentially peering into/onto her property.

Who is saying that??

Certainly not me.

Most of what I'm trying to do here is explain which fears are real and which are exaggerated . For instance just because a drone is flying does not mean it is taking any pictures or is even pointed at you. People assume. I understand the concern, but it's similar to freaking out because someone walks onto your property carrying a cell phone. It has the ability to take pictures or video also. Regular aircraft, and Google earth regularly take pictures overhead that are increasingly detailed. What we need to decide as a society is how drones either are or are not essentially different from these two realities we already live with. And if they are different what new rules we need ? That's the question to be decided.

In most places that would open you up to charges of vandalism or reckless behavior. It's the same as if someone threw rocks at your car because they didn't like it parked on the street in front of their house. The only good way to deal with the drone nuts is to pass laws that limit their over flights.

That same someone who said I must have something stuck up my butt because I complained about a contractor brining his dog inside my house w/o even asking.

Look, David, I never used such language, and I have gone out of my way to try to not get personal with you, while you continue to try to get personal with me. Lighten up! We are not enemy combatants here, just fellow members of a forum, talking. OK?

My understanding is that if an insurance company is using a drone in order to adjust a claim they must actually file a flight plan with the FAA when taking photos of the home due to privacy concerns regarding neighboring homes. The person operating the drone also has to be a certified pilot.

No one should be invading their neighbors privacy with their toys. Keep your drone in your yard or go to a park to play.
