I was doing a little yard cleanup and my attention turned to our fence, which is on our "later" list of improvements.
We're on a corner lot and the fence runs along about a side-and-a-half, pretty much in the back and side (not the front or garage). It's not a security thing or anything; it just defines the property edge.
It's chain link, which is VERY uncharacteristic for our neighborhood. Fortunately a lot of it is covered with bougainvillea and whatnot.
I took a closer look at it and like everything else in this house it was very well installed. Posts are straight and solid (set in concrete) and on pretty precise 8' intervals.
Could keep the posts structurally and just sleeve them in those pre-fab stone boxes and then just replace the chain link with whatever iron or powder coated Al panels? I hate the thought of cutting them down just to re-set new posts...
Sure. You can sleeve the metal posts. Just make sure they are straight. You can even have someone weld tabs on the posts and use self tapping screws to attach the cross members to that then install your panels.
