This was found in a large paint bucket in an attic and there were several other painting tools, masking tape, in the bucket. This item was shown to a carpenter and a painter and they can not name it.
It's made of plastic and there is a bolt at the top that can be loosened or tightened. When the bottom part of the handle is moved up or down the bolt does also. There is a hole in the bottom of the handle with a thin indention which might be for the handle to accommodate some other item maybe a wooden stick (?)
The circular piece can be tightened or loosened using the bolt. So this circular part of this tool does hold something. Maybe some paint roller in some way?
It's probably specific to a particular brand and model (based on the diameter of the hole). There's probably someone out there that would like to have it because theirs has broken/gotten messed up, or has gone missing. I don't have any great ideas how you could pass it on to someone that would want it, maybe ask the person at the rental counter of a large hardware store that rents tools?
