Dear all,

Please recommend Powerful kitchen exhaust to remove all cooking smoke and smell quickly.

Current system is microwave over gas stove with exhaust ducts going out of the house. Its not powerful and cooking smoke and smell stay inside the house for long time.

Thanks a lot!

How far is the stove from an exterior wall or the roof?

I had a home with one close to this one once. Best airflow of all.

One thing that helps any fan do its job is to turn it on BEFORE you start to cook. You want to create a draft so the odors/smoke are pulled toward the vent, not drifting out into the room. I also cook smokier stuff outdoors on a grill, not in the kitchen. Be aware that a more powerful vent will be loud.

We just renovated our kitchen and replaced the microwave/exhaust over the gas cooktop with a Zephyr hood.
We love it. Quiet and powerful.

The $64,000 question is:

How much are you willing to spend.

There are some really great units.. but they're not inexpensive.

Can you vent straight out the wall... or would you need to go up through the ceiling through the second floor, the attic and then through the roof?

Approx sq footage of your kitchen?

What do you have for a cooktop?

You don’t have to spend that much.
We hated our over the hob microwave and only spent $51,000 on our renovation.
And, now, I have my Sub-Zero, damnit.

ANYTHING is going to do a better job than a combo fan/microwave.

Agreed! And something I forget to do until noticing that I should have done it.

Thanks a million for great responses. Let me make it clear again that I have gas stove and microwave on top of it with exhaust and ducts carrying all air out of house thru walls. its long duct run thru walls with 2 bends. I thought of installing removing microwave and installing hood with powerful exhaust fan to remove all air quickly. what do you guys think?
