I have an older Thermador range (GPS364GDS) with 2 burners, 2 burners with X-LO, and a flat top. The lower-left burner (X-LO) stopped flowing gas awhile back and I immediately thought it was the gas valve solenoid, seeing how I had a spark but no gas. It turns out the solenoid was fine, but the old graphite(?) potentiometer was burned out and I had no continuity on the graphite card. I had trouble finding that same potentiometer, so I bought an updated version that looked much more like a circuit board. I installed it and everything was fine for a week, but then the new potentiometer burned out again. Did I just receive a bad part or is something else the problem? I'm not sure if the other components need to be replaced along with the revised potentiometer or if it's a direct replacement. What do you think?

Sounds like a voltage problem to me.

Two burned pots in the same location?- yeah, I'd be looking "beyond" the pot.

Thanks. I'll look upstream and see what might be the problem. If I can't figure it out, I have no shame in calling an authorized serviceperson...but I know it'll hurt the wallet.
