We are building a new house in NJ and have an option to add a third zone for our basement. We were originally going to skip this option, however we found out that the builder will insulated and finish the basement ceiling.
Does this make adding vents/ducts hard to do in the future? Is the 7500 price reasonable? We will have around 1500sq ft of finished space and it is a walkout basement (the whole back is framed vs poured concrete for the rest of the house.
How much would something like this cost after the fact? The builder said that they would add another unit to the basement zone instead of tapping into the first floor.
That would be abit high here in the ATL, but for Jersey it maybe in line. The only way to know for sure would be to shop it around- of course you'll have to keep in mind the builder is tacking on some profit for itself.

We have our basement on a operate zone, but we have two bedrooms, a bathroom, hall, and game-room down there. The basement has very different needs that the rest of the house. It naturally stays about 40 - 60 degrees most of the time. The bigger issue int he basement is humidity.
I do nto know waht it cost to have a fourth zone for the basement. I do nto thing the price differential was all that much.

Well if it's a drywall ceiling then you'd be better off having it done (the HVAC). Otherwise, you may have to tear out some of the drywall to do a retro fit.
$5 a square foot is a bargain. Jump at the chance.
