I had new laminate flooring installed in my entire house ($10,000 worth), it's beautiful but I bought these floor protector sticky things at Home Depot which are crap and useless on dining room chairs. Now I have the sticky stuff on the floor and it's VERY hard to get off.

Does anyone know how I can do it without ruining the floors?

Also does anyone know of a better product to use to protect the floors, on dining room chair bottoms?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Goo Gone? (it's kind of oily) - they sell pads that stick to the bottom of furniture.

Yes I have, it didn't work that well.

It's the pads that have caused the problem as they are not good on moving dining room chairs.

How about these for the chairs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GOODUQG...&pd_rd_w=ZeznW

I know alcohol will dissolve sticky stuff. Rubbing alcohol. Test on a spot that won't show.

Try spme oil on a paper towel (mineral, olive, corn)...with some elbow grease, the oil will liquefy the sticky crap without damaging the finish on the floor. I fight with those same Home Depot type stick on chair leg pads all the time....seems they last for a couple of weeks max. I have resisted drilling the legs on my antique chairs, but the pads in the above link may be what I go to next.

Paint thinner. It will not hurt the "plastic" laminate.

De Solv It will take everything off that I have tried... I cleaned some plastic containers that would not release the labels... You do not need much You can find it at Walmart (maybe) It is about half the cost that Amazon wants for 12oz

Well, it's either mostly polar in which case a polar solvent will get it (water with soap), or it's mostly nonpolar in which case a nonpolar solvent will get it (oils and organic solvents).

I would start with oil. Most sticky adhesives will soften up with oil. Type of oil is up to you.

For organic solvents, in ascending order of aggressiveness are probably

- Paint thinner/mineral spirits
- Naphtha/lighter fluid
- Lacquer thinner
- Alcohols
- Acetone
- Carbon tetrachloride (just kidding, outlawed many years ago)

Funny enough my handyman came over and used coconut oil, it worked better than anything!
