I’m seeing so much of this stuff being used on new houses lately. I really think it’s a fad people are going to regret in another decade or so. It looks so cheap IMO, almost in a doublewide trailer kind of way. Is it actually durable? Will it last as long as real brick?

It's basically concrete. What do you think?

So it’s concrete that’s been stained? Hmm, I wonder how long it’ll keep its color?

Stone veneer can be made from natural stone as well as manufactured stone. Natural stone veneer is made from real stone that is either collected, i.e. fieldstone, or quarried. The stone is cut to a consistent thickness and weight for use as a veneer.

Some stone veneer siding is made from Portland cement and iron oxide pigments for coloration.

GenStone veneer is made of strong, waterproof and virtually weightless polyurethane.

And probably other materials.

Smh. I see so much talk of stuff looking cheap and it just makes me wonder, how much money do the people saying it have? And even if you do have so much money, you still need to talk down on others possessions in order to feel more elevated or superior, so it cant be that great , can it?

Maybe they wanted to create a more varied look. Because if they didnt then it would be all "samey" and "boring". And you would have judged that too.

No, it’s not a varied look, because when I see it it’s on every house in a subdivision, just like vinyl siding. I say it looks cheap because it looks thin, and I do in fact see it being used on newer manufactured housing.

It comes down to comprehension. I meant maybe they wanted to break up the look of their siding. I have vinyl siding on my house. There's literally nothing wrong with vinyl siding other than again, people who are "grand" or pretend to be online, dislike it because its affordable. It's durable. It gives variety and low maintenance.

And Im sure it wouldnt be used so much if it wasn't.

Some people act like all old houses were built using non-cheap materials and thats not the case. In any "case" I dont see the problem with it. Dont like it , dont buy it.

Maybe it looks cheap because of the house it's on. I think on a small Cape Cod or Tudor style cottage it might look nice. Who doesn't want to live in a stone cottage?

Come to the Phoenix, AZ area where every house built after 1985 has painted stucco instead of siding. It's a fad here that will never go away.
