I have a Maytag I purchased at Home Depot. Stainless front. Freezer on top. Good size. 5 year warranty. Less than 1000 in the house. Running fine, probably 4 years.
I read a lot of the Home Depot reviews before buying.
I have a Whirlpool fridge (10 years now) and love it, still works perfectly. I was told by an applicance salesmen that they are they best quality, and he himself has one.
We always buy Whirlpool. We bought a new side by side Whirlpool fridge about 4 or 5 years ago. It has an ice/water dispenser on the outside of the freezer side. No problems. It is very quiet. My only complaint is that about once a year the water filter light goes on. I just reset it and use it for another year. I am not going to pay $50 to $60 to replace a water filter when I do not think anything is wrong with the local water to begin with.
Whirlpool owns and I assume makes Frigidaire. We have a Frigidaire and I have had to repair it three times in eight years, twice the automatic ice maker broke, and there was a defective defroster hose I had to replace. The good news is the repairs were easy with YouTube videos but it seems the quality could be better.
i used to buy whirlpool appliances back in the 90's and never had any problems with em. i am considering on buying another one with an ice maker and water dispenser..
thoughts and inputs on the newer models that seem to be ready for the landfill as soon as you plug em in
would like info on how well the ice makers hold up as well since that seems like the first thing to break down
We a Whirlpool refrigerator for our rental house and it only lasted a couple years.
My Kenmore (Whirlpool) is 21 years old this month. No issues. Icemaker/water dispenser have worked just fine. I have an inline water filter, so no built-in one (cheaper that way).
I think the newer models with ice bin on the freezer door don't make enough ice. Mine has a large bin in the upper portion of the freezer. Never frozen over, leaked or caused problems.
I vacuum the coils twice per year. It also has 4" clearance on one side, 8" clearance above, & about 3ft clearance on the other side. I think fridges in enclosed spaces fail more often.
I'm on my second KitchenAid fridge. The first one lasted 17 years with no issues and it was still working but very loudly when I replaced it.
