They are not! I never flush facial tissue.

Facial tissues really differ from tp, as blowing your nose on tp would reveal. Tp disintegrates more easily. It feels like facial tissue is thin yet tightly structured.

We normally don't. But we just moved and had some puppy accidents that TP alone wasn't going to handle. With the trash cans still to be unearthed from the mountains of boxes, we flushed the wipes. One $300 plumbing bill later, we were reminded of why we never flushed them in the past.

The water treatment plants are having problems with wipes. They get caught in the pre-processing part of the system. My HOA had to replace our grinder/pumps that pump our neighborhood sewage to the town system because of wipes and other things. Notices went out by email, and people went door to door to speak to those who don't do email, and it was mentioned multiple times at HOA meetings.

I use a good TP. And I dampen it with Thayers no alcohol witch hazel to make sure I’m clean. The witch hazel doesn’t seem to make the TP shred up like water, as TP is supposed to when it hits water.

I have touchless automatic stainless steel trash cans in each bathroom. I use plastic liners. I do use a lot of wipes but wrap them in toilet paper and toss into the trash can along with disposable underwear and anything else contaminated with bio-waste.

None of the bathrooms in our houses have electrical outlets in the toilet rooms and I'm not feeling flush (heh heh) enough to hire an electrician to install them so I can get the toilet seat bidets.

Years ago, as a newspaper reporter, I toured a new wastewater treatment plant. Since then, I have flushed nothing but human waste and toilet paper.

I had a houseboat years ago. I had a sign by the head that read: “please don’t put anything into this head, unless you have eaten it first.” Until I installed that sign, I was constantly dismantling the grinder/pump every time we had new guests aboard.

Between that experience and having a septic system in a country home, I learned to abide by the sign from my old houseboat ever since.
