On a new home build, had prefinished hard wood floors put in. Also had a stair railing put in that was stained and finished with what I believe is a poly finish. This was done months ago, but recently went to clean some of the hardwood floor and noticed some spots were not washing away my guess is there spots are drips of hardened poly from the railing work.

How can I clean this poly off the floorboards again these are prefinished floor boards, not finished on site. Would a mineral spirit or similar be the way to go? Thanks

If polyurethane finish has dripped and cured, no solvent you'd be willing to use will get it up. Probably it needs to be lightly sanded with something like 1600 or 3000 grit to feather it in to the surrounding finish. Maybe 0000 steel wool.

The only other possibility is if it isn't bonded to the finish of the stuff it dripped onto, in which case there's a slim chance you could scrape/flake it up with a single edge razor blade used carefully. Since everything is new, trying this probably wouldn't flake the finish off the floor boards.

Yep- I'd be a betting man on the "not well bonded" and go with a single edge razor blade.
