Is it possible that my fridge is out if it feels warm on the shelves and items, but my freezer is freezing my items? There is a bit of ice on the air vent too. Please don't say it is so.

your freezer provides the cold air that freezes in the freezer compartment and circulates into the refrigerator to keep it cool.
if the freezer is fine, then something is impeding the flow into the refrigerator. the ice/whatever is blocking the vent.

The fridge is fed off the freezer via a damper door in most refrigerators.....first thing you need to do is check the freezer temperature...it should be near zero.... my bet is it isn’t...I will guess and say you will find it 20-25 degrees .

If not near 0 degree ,check the condenser coil on the back of the refrigerator for dirt if the freezer is warmer ......if the condenser is not blocked , then ———

There may be defrosting issues , a damper door issue , a leak and low on refrigerant or a compressor failing ......there are ways to check each but it may start to get beyond your capability

I can't find my freeze temp. But it is freezing my ice cube tray and making a breeze when I open up my side by side Kitchen Aid anymore. My butter is melting and my OJ was warm this morning. I have a casserole in the oven now. This can not be happening because I need to replace my air conditioning which I haven't done yet.

You must measure the freezer temp....water freezes at 32 degrees ....that freezer needs to be around zero to be able to cool the refrig part ......I bet it is to warmer in the freezer ......ice cream will likely be very soft if you have any . Ice cream needs -10 to 0 degrees ......ice does not ....

Any bets the freezer temp is actually to warm ?

No idea if Kitchenaid does dual compressors, but Samsung does and I have absolutely had a working freezer and dead fridge... twice, on 2 different units. In the first instance, the defrost heater failed and the coils iced over which kill the cooling. On the second, the drain froze over which slowly iced over the coils (took about 2 weeks) till it wouldn't cool.

Again, in both cases, the freezer was working fine.

My ice cream is frozen as well as my bread and my ice machine is making ice. Is this possible one side works and the other doesn't?

I just checked and the little vent in the fridge is now blowing air. First it was now and now it is. I had nothing blocking it when it froze up and was sweating. It was sweating recently, but I did not notice it was a problem.

This is odd, but the fridge is now cooling. How can this be?
