Sounds like one of many tall tales that get circulated by consumers that have a grudge against new home builders.

We we put Andersen 100 in our house and we’re very happy with them. They have been in for several years now and we have no complaints. We had 25 year old metal windows, so the clarity and insulation is much better. We live in a hot climate, so got all the uv and heat blocking options.

Anecdotally, we built a house in 1972 and moved in 1992. The whole development had Andersen windows of the same age. Shortly before we moved, an Andersen rep. came around asking if we had any issues with our windows. The company replaced or repaired any and all of their windows that had failed for any reason, at no charge. Now, THAT is customer service.

Just a word to the wise. Andersen windows are considered to be among the best. Anderson windows are a different brand.
