Large decorative tray. Very utilitarian for moving food from kitchen/grill to family room, serving appetizers or drinks. Bring it with cheeses, nuts or other goodies.
When not in use they can stand behind the bar as decor, corral stuff on the bar or a coffee table.
Throw(s) for the sofa depending how much you want to spend. Can probably find faux fur type throws at one of the home goods type stores for relatively inexpensive.

Go to the Dollar Tree -- I mean now the "Dollar and More Store" -- and buy a dozen of those plastic POPCORN bag-looking containers; they can let their viewing audience use them when there.

Great suggestions. I'm liking the personalized serving tray!
Ok more details: Absolutely no gift required. These are our good friends who we go out to dinner with once a month. This is the couple we have traveled to Vegas with as well. My bf and him work together so they are pretty close. I know if the role was reversed, they would do the same for us. Anytime we have a get together, we bring alcohol and food. They do the same for ours.
Budget: up to $500
They are 47 and 41 married with 4 daughters who all have bfs and friends. So, this basement is a true necessity as their house has always been considered the "party/cool" house. Plus we do gatherings and football parties. Trust me, every weekend their house is very busy!

Perhaps a fun, neon, flashing OPEN sign. Or, depending on budget (ie.,toy/refurbished/new) a juke box, fortune teller machine, or claw prize machine.

I've never been one for customized gifts. Even if I don't like them, I kinda have to use or display them when you come over to visit. I feel even worse that I can't get rid of it unless I know somebody who has the same initials, last name, etc. I have enough stuff and clutter. No more, please.
Home decor is a matter of personal taste. Sorry, but a neon light or sports memorabilia? No.
