So, I am looking to replace my unit, on the roof, with a new package (Heat and AC). Now, in January 2023, I am getting info that every unit has gone up about $2000 because of government regs. (SEER 2)

This is very irritating. So, if I had completed this task in 2022, it would have been $2000 cheaper? I don't get it. Why wasn't i informed about this price increase by someone. I did call for 3 estimates about a month ago and got no response from any of them. One guy called me this AM to say there are no units available in the area that can be installed, due to the new regs. Only choice is a new 2023 unit at the higher price.

Anyone know anything or have any advice for me? TIA

Order your own new unit delivered to your door yourself, and contract yourself a hvac tech to install.

Plenty of standards systems still available at reasonable prices.

Was told not to do that due to warranty issues. Installer would not warranty the product because they didn't provide it.

Check with your utility company whether they have any incentives.
In New Jersey you get rebates plus zero percent payment plan up to $11k for high efficiency systems.
