Garage Door Opening by Itself
For the second day in a row I came home to find my automatic garage door wide open. Does anyone have ideas as to why this could happen? I made sure it was closed when I left this AM because I found it open yesterday. The house was untouched. My husband's Calloways were still sitting in plain view in the garage so I don't think anyone was attempting to burglarize us. Very strange!!

Are you in a flight path?
Several years ago, the Navy testing a new homing beacon in San Diego. Every plane that took off opened half the garage doors on Point Loma.

I had to change the code on a door opener some years ago to stop mystery activation.

Change the code on both the remote control and at the garage door opener and match the codes at both places. Garage door openers (such as Genie) all come from the factory with the same code setting.

A neighbor's opener might be triggering it.
Years ago when the city installed sensors on the traffic lights of the main thouroughfare so emergency vehicles could have all green lights, we discovered our garage door opener changed the lights, too. It was wonderful smooth-sailing across town until they reprogramed them.

Make sure it's all the way down before you leave. Sometimes it will auto reverse as it's hitting the ground.
Have you noticed any spooky ghosts hanging around the house playing tricks on you? Dishes flying across the room?

Sounds like maybe I need to change the codes. Of course this stuff always seems to happen when hubby is out of town. Hopefully it won't flip open at 2 in the morning. It might also be that I am losing my mind & really am just forgetting to close it which is entirely possible since it doesn't happen at any other time of the day when we are home.
By the way Rakin--I do hear footsteps on our wood floors at night......
I need a good handyman to call in an emergency. Last week (when husband was out of town of course) it was the battery in the highest placed smoke detector in the house...chirp, chirp, chirp.....

If you have old door opener with maybe 300 MH opener airplanes can sometimes open door.We had this problem in Denver with old Stapleton airport. You would have to turn power off to it or change to Genie opener which has different freq. which changes with each use.
