I need to replace my toilet flapper, and from what I have read it seems like a very easy job. I've never done this before though and I'm having trouble understanding how I'll get mine off, I attached a couple of pictures of this flapper. It doesn't look like it just snaps off and on, I'm not sure how I'd get the ears off of those clips, I don't want to break the clips obviously. Any suggestions?
It is easy to do. I can't remember how it works but there will be instructions on the package of the new one you buy.
Thanks, getting the new one on will be the easy part. What I need to figure out is to how to get this old one off without breaking those clips, it's probably very simple but just want some pointers first.
That's what I mean -- when you buy the new kit, removing the old one and installing the new one will be apparent with the directions. I did it and I'm a real girly-girl, LOL. One thing I've learned over the years is NEVER to take apart/remove an old part without the new part and its directions in hand! And usually I buy more parts than I need, just in case, because I figure I can always return what I don't open!
I got the old one off right now, it was easier than I thought. I wasn't sure how it would come off, but the flapper is flexible so there was no stress to the clips in taking it off. Now I'm on my way to get the new flapper.
good job. see it wasn't all that hard now was it ? you can do anything you put your mind to.
