How do you mean a tree without bugs?? for outside, inside? Do you mean just plain ole bugs out flying around having a good time, or hungry bugs that can eat and destory a tree?

How about cedar. Cedar trees are turned into cedar chests to keep bugs out of saved items. Just a thought.

Bugs are your friends. Leave them alone as long as they stay outside.

Bugs have been around for a long time because they are exceptionally difficult to get rid of. Best of luck.

Any trees that drop fruit will bring bugs, any trees that flower will bring bugs, actually I'm not sure that there is such a thing as a bugless tree.

Buy an artificial tree and spray it with malatheon (just to be sure).

Problem solved.

That's an interesting thought. Whoever suggested cedar may be close, though it will still harbor some insects, esp. those that evolved along with it. And cedars are subject to fungi.
Birds seem to like living in cedar trees, too. But they are itchy and nothing much will grow under them.

Eucalyptus might be another. I know they seem to be invasive on the west coast, so I'm not sure if they are a good choice.

Crape myrtles don't seem to have many bugs except maybe aphids or mealy bugs. They're sort of yuck.

Some oaks don't seem to have many pests, now that I think of it.

I like the idea of an artificial christmas tree as a smart ass response.

What are you really asking for?

I want a tree that either contains very little insects in, on, or anywhere around them to plant in the front yard to shade the house but not house insects that would bother me throughout the seasons. I like a bug-free zone (even planning to have artificial grass)... I don't artificial trees would work (but thanks for the thought)... I live on the east cost... It would even be better if the tree was a natural bug repellent as well as not housing that many bugs... I saw the link and a lot of the trees listed said "attract files and kills them"... well, I don't want to attract flies in the first place! So I am looking for fairly large trees to shade the house and contain the very minimal bugs at most (i.e. I don't want to see bugs anywhere)...
