I understand the concern of the glass, but, I more concerned when there are no windows - no way to see who's at the door. Could be a very nasty surprise.

It actually works fairly easily... at least it has for me. There are locks available that are highly resistant to Key Bumping... of course they cost several times more at a minimum.

MEDCO locks is one brand that comes to mind.

I found this on Wikipedia on bump proof locks. I don't think I'll sleep well until I get my locks changed!

Locks made by ABLOY, KABA, Medeco, Schlage, Kwikset[9] and other manufacturers such as BiLock[10] are advertised to be bump proof. ABLOY uses disc tumbler locking mechanism that can't be bumped. Kwikset offers a new technology called SmartKey[11] that eliminates the shear line in traditional pin tumbler locks and provides advanced protection. KABA experT cylinders consist of 4 rows of pins using a total of 22 pin possibilities, therefore the bumping method cannot be used to gain entry. KABA pExtra is an inline system that is available with a magnetic pin to prevent the bumping method being used.[12]

Medeco and Schlage Primus locks are advertised as unbumpable due to sidebars that must be aligned to a specific depth to enable pin movement and pins chiseled at angles to further thwart bumping.[13][14] However there are also recent studies about how easy it is to bypass this sidebars feature.[15] Master Lock also makes a line of bump resistant locks, using so-called bump stop security.[16]

Lock bumping is quite the noisy method though. Out here they just come in through a back window. Especially if it's like a culdesac where what you're doing echoes too well.
