Porcelain Tile Job Help
Sooo ... like two idiots, my wife and I decided to rip up the laminate flooring in our new house and lay porcelain tile (650 square feet of it). DIY project cause we didn't want to drop $5k to have a pro do it.
For the most part, things are going well. Got all the backerboard down and have about half the tile down. We've been jumping up and down on it to make sure it is solid and nothing pops loose before we start grouting.
Our problem is this: we have one tile that did not go down well. It is straight but not level... in fact it is very uneven ... height difference is probably about 1/8th of an inch. I can barely tell from a distance if I look at it carefully, but can definitely see it up close.
Should we ignore it hoping the grout will mask the uneveness? Or should we pop it out and re-lay it? If we decide to pop it out, what's the best way to get it out? Our mortar is good stuff ... very solid. Am I going to have to chip it out with a chisel and hammer? What is the likelihood I will break the tile in the process?
Any advice any of you may have would be appreciated. I am not a handy man and this is the first time I've ever attempted tile work.
