Air registers--Choosing for efficiency? (grille, ceiling, better, ducts)

Greeting: just joined the site and this forum.
Can anyone provide some education or web sites regarding choosing the appropriate ceiling register style (2-way; 3-way etc..) for cooling rooms. When is a 3-way better trhan a 1 or 2 way??

I think a lot depends on where the register is located, but I'm not an expert.

I basically sent them to a more specific website.

I also gave the engineering data from a grille mfg.
