Ok need your opinion everyone. I just purchased a brand new house in May. I commented to the electric guy that one of my outside ac units is extremely noisy. I can totally hear it upstairs in the master bed and bath-kinda ruins a nice quiet soak. He said that's normal. I said it's not. I've never had an ac unit run so loud. Do you think I need to contact Lennox directly or the builder??

I don't know about Lennox specifically, but I know some units are much louder than others. I had a Goodman installed about 10 years ago that was very loud. Just replaced the whole system - air handler and all, with a Ruud, and it is unbelievable how much quieter it runs.

The problem is its still under warranty as its brand new and I'm not spending any money to replace it. It's not my responsibility but am not sure who to contact over it, Lennar or Lennox??

You should just get it checked out if its under warranty. The builder may order you a new one or new part. But they still have to work on it.

What type of noise is it making?

It's just cycling really loud the entire time its running. It's definitely way too loud to be a brand new unit. I'm going to email the builder and see what they say

Does it sound like a grinding noise? Maybe happens on startup and get's slightly quieter as it runs?

Is the unit "level" or is it tipped? Leaning a little? New construction - builders tend to have the units placed before the ground settles near the house... just a thought?
