We bought a house that has the oven/stove in the kitchen island (really it's a peninsula) and because we took down the overhead cabinets we have no vent fan. We are wanting to replace our oven, but can't find one with a down vent that is attached to the back. Any ideas on what brands offer this? Or what to do about a vent that doesn't cost us an arm and a leg?
We had a GE with a downdraft vent that worked really well. It had plug in units and we had a grill / griddle on one side [we mainly used the griddle which we bought separately]
Is the downdraft vent required? We purchased a used gas range & noticed the fan is gone.
Not if you do not care about smells and smoke in your house. We have no vent up or down. It is not a big deal. If you burn something you open opposing windows and the smoke blows out.
When I used to make omlettes in the morning, the smell would bring everyone running and drooling. Good way to get them out of bed. Now they are gone. Nothing gets my wife out of bed so all I can do now is make the dogs drool. May as well put in a vent at this point.
