Why do people have doors in doorways?
Whats the point? I mean it's just something to have to open and close for no reason?

What??? Maybe to keep the weather out. Or pets in. Maybe to keep family safe from wackos. Could even be to make sure the stuff you have, will still be there when you get back home from buying more stuff.

It is all a giant conspiracy.......
It is a carefully crafted plan to destroy the Earth.
First they have to put in doorways. Those can be complicated and they are not free. They normally go in the places where you can get into or out of rooms.
Then they have to cut down even more trees. Then use power and sweat cut them up. Smart peeps are required to count the boards. Even smarter peeps are required to glue them together.
Then they must saw them up, measure twice and cut at least once.
Then they have to be gotten into the right shape.
Metals are melted, hammered, maybe sawn into hinges and all that lock stuff. Might even use a bit of glass for the knobs. It is all very, very involved.
Then somebody got to lug the door to the right place, figure out which end is up and hang it about so. This can be very serious business.
Back to the OP, they normally put doors in doorways because most windows will not fit.

It is very difficult to put doors in the middle of the room. They don't stand up very well.

Maybe to keep noise out, to give privacy, stop cooking and other smells and as somone else said keep pets out.
You can always prop it open.
