I know little about Haas. They are an old company but their marketing area is bit localized to Indiana and immediate surrounding states. You are in Missouri right next door so that explains that.
Being from the east and west and never central I have never came across a Haas brand. Sorry.

Hello desertsun41, can you help?
working on kitchen design and am considering Embassy (with perhaps a few pieces from Omega if necessary). I originally had considered kraftmaid but have not been happy with the kitchen designers at either HD or a local independent designer. I am set to meet up with a designer who carries embassy/omega, but am afraid that it will be so much more expensive than what we have seen for kraftmaid.
there is also a place locally that carries merrilat and i have heard in your post that they are your first choice. how do their prices and quality compare to kraftmaid? i am only using kraftmaid as a comparator because we are familiar with that line and have already received a quote..
my zip is 12203 by the way.
i would appreciate ANY help!
thanks.

Yuou alos might get quotes for custom cabinets makers. Since there are now comapnies that make very nice solid wood of many types of door from raised panel to galls paneled ;cutomer makers can come very close to matching prices of manufatured cabinet and the fit alone with no spacers is worth it besides the options.

desertsun41, thanks for all your valuable insight and knowledge on this subject. I am renovating our kitchen and have been researching kitchen cabinets. I keep heard good things about the Kraftmaid line and read they were pick #1 by JD powers. Do you know of any "discount building supplier" withn in 15 miles of 10022 (NY Metro) for quality kitchen cabinets. Thanks in advance.

Ultracraft has been around for about 25 years, not too shabby. They are a very cheap inexpensive cabinet. They are mostly used in apartment buildings and condo developments next to interstate highways. It is far from a custom grade or look cabinet box.
Almost their entire line is euro style which I feel is just God aweful. Of course in Europe they think our framed cabinets are God aweful but I know I am right. A framed cabinet is far far more attractive and so far superior in strength and durability.
In their entire line they have almost no all wood offerings. Most all of their product lines are that dirty filthy curse word......particle board. I am pro particle board because it is superior then all wood boxes but my life work of convincing others continue to fail.
Ultracraft has a couple pretty doors but I just can not bring myself to like a frameless cabinet.
It's a very inexpensive cabinet so it's no surprise they are pushing it on you because you probably told them you are on a limited budget. The alternative is likely much more costlier. I advise to look at that stores other products and compare. I also advise to buy framed cabinets unless you just simply love the look of frameless. The vast majority of Americans do not like frameless so you have to think of resale too.

desertsun41, thanks again for all your valuable insight. the funny thing is the designer was pushing this and led me to believe this was a "higher" end line. we were looking at the kraftmaid and he said we can expect the ultracraft to cost about 20% more for a similar design. sounds like I should run fast and far away from them. i plan on visiting one of your suggestion (LIS Custom Designs) next week. thanks again for you insight. Ultracraft cost more then Kraftmaid? Yikes!!!!!! Never!!!!
Dont get me wrong, Ultracraft does not make a bad box. It's just an inexpensive lower quality box. If I carried it I would steer customers to it if they were on a budget.
Hey wana try something? Check out Covered Bridge Cabinets. They are all made in the USA and are inexpensive and are pretty good. I like them a lot. They are RTAs but do not use cam locks, they use steel clips to assemble them. I been urging my partners to carry it but they still have the bad taste in their mouth from Chinese made junk which are all RTAs. Ya gotta change with the times man! Give them a look. They are out of Pennsylvania.
Good luck

Hi Desertsun41, we really enjoy your posts. very informative. we are looking to do a complete kitchen remodel, say around 17 cabinets. we went to Lowes and they are recommending Schuler as their top of the line cabinets (lifetime warranty on wood and hardware). their estimates for the cabinets (including a lazy susan, pantry, spice rack, etc) was around $11,500. this was after discounts and all. we wanted to know your thoughts on the Schuler line. Thanks
