Lots of scrubbing including washing your walls if you aren't re-painting them. Opening windows as mentioned, and a direct application of spray Lysol if possible. Remember, it is bacteria that causes the smell so killing the bacteria could remedy the problem(s). Best of luck with your project!

If you were to try tri sodium phosphate on painted walls, would it stain them?

I have a slight musty smell in my home as well. The home was built in 69 and remodeled recently but still has the odor. I'm thinking it is the wood floors since the walls are freshly painted. The closets really have the musty smell which makes me think its the floors. Under the house and in the attic neither have the smell so that leaves the floors suspect. Any idea how to get rid of the odor?

VENTILATE - attics, basements, crawl spaces, etc. VENTILATE...air out all those stale places where air doesn't move. Put in crawl space vents, circulators, attic vents, turbine fans, soffit vents, etc. Sorry to be repetitive...but it works!

srb1x is on a distinguished road
Hi, we recently bought an older home, a fixer-upper. It had some really bad smells in it, some due to indoor pets not being house broke. We removed all carpeting and replaced, any floor that had pet odors that went through carpeting (Jim Walters home) we replaced that flooring. There's an odor in the kitchen cabinets we cant seem to get rid of. The cabinets aren't that old and are visually really nice. We've washed them with strong liquid cleaners. Tried the vinegar solution, tried a wood cleaner & conditioner, still hasn't worked. Does anyone know of something else?

Thanks!
