Yep, includes all necessary materials, incl. the wax ring, etc. Of course the toilet we are buying separately. And the first part of your sentence is exactly why we were considering Lowes. Not to mention if we crack the toilet then guess what? We get to buy another. If he cracks it, then Lowes gets to buy another.

Was it the quality of carpet/padding or was it the installer? Either way...I sure would be calling and getting it fixed! There is no excuse for that. Did you point out the flaw about the pattern when you checked it before they left?
Did Lowes call you after to see about the installation? Every time we have used them ( several times different Lowes stores) they ALWAYS followed up.( Even on a simple washer installation.)
I am glad though you shared your story about the carpet. It helps others know what to ask AHEAD of time about "what happens if".
raising and tami: It is horrible what happened. I know these things happen, but what I think is really important is if and how the company handles it.
Thanks so much everyone for helping me out. I think we are going to Lowes this weekend, so when the toilet's installed I'll come back and let everyone know how it went.
Hopefully, it works out the way you want it too! The best of luck to you.
Last night, we went to Lowes to get a stove and refrigerator. They were so helpful. I have to tell you we were shocked how dead the store was. We live in a pretty busy area and for the week before Christmas its sad.
They are running all kinds of in store specials. Make sure you ask about them. You never know, your area might be having them too.
Thanks again Raising. We were in Lowes last weekend and noticed the same thing. Usually the Lowes is hopping on the weekend. Sad that people are broke and just aren't spending as usual.
I'll ask about specials. Good idea.
Many of you were so helpful in responding to my OP, I just can't understand why I got some obnoxious responses. I really felt like some were just condescending and rude. Sad considering it's the holidays.
I did call Lowes and gave them feedback and then some. At the time, there was nothing to do be done because the carpet wasn't buckling (seams) yet. We didn't notice the piece that was the wrong way until later. They obviously couldn't do anything about the bathroom issue and the blood is dried on the basement floor under the carpet. It's been over a year now and it's too late, but I believe this was the only contractor they have for carpet installation in the area and I told them I NEVER wanted them back in my home again.
Lowes really doesn't care. They have your money, the installation was done. They were apologetic and I'm sure they would have honored the one year warranty, but we didn't want the guy back. Live and learn. If we ever need to replace the carpet, we'll go elsewhere.
PS: It was the installer and not the carpet quality. It is a pretty expensive Berber with the highest level of padding. I even told Lowes how much I loved the carpet but would never buy carept from them again because of who they use to install it.
Tami: I can see why you wouldn't want him back in your home, especially if there weren't other contractors for them to hire. I know Lowes doesn't care, they are a big corp. afterall. I'm just thinking that it would be easier to get them to fix any problems vs. an individual plumber. We are in Denver and contractors and plumbers are a dime a dozen. So much so in fact that it's really hard to know who to trust.
Hopefully, the plumbing contractor Lowe's uses in your area will better than the carpeting contractors they use in mine! Let us know how it works out if you use them.
Yeah, I'm hoping the same. I'll keep the comments here in mind and if one thing smells funny, I'll put the kabash on it quick. I'll also be sure to get the mgrs. name of the store so I have easy contact. It's too bad we have to go about it this way, but I honestly feel it's for the best.
You don't have to justify why you are doing it. My husband can do almost anything. Plumbing, electric, etc. He can even lay carpet but he said it is too much of a pain so that's why we got the installation. The people who finished our basement tiled the bathroom down there and my husband tiled the portion by the door himself. We have no problems with the tile in either places. That's just the way it goes.
