Do not put the memory foam on your floor!
We had a Cal King Novafoam comfortluxe. It is a great mattress.
While we were waiting for our bed frmae to be ordered we put it on our floor with no boxspring. It held all the body moisture under the matress causinf a bunch of mold and damaging the hardwood newly refinished floors. The moisture soaked the floorboards warping them. We has to clean the mold, get rid of the matreess and dry out and clean the woodfloor. Get a bedframe, boxspring soemthing to keep it off the ground so it can ventilate properly.
Well, ^^^that was it. I do understand the replies given to me here about temperature differences etc.. that makes sense. I don't think it will be a problem for me.
My Partner has a Bad back, so we brought a single uncovered untreated foam and we put it on the floor board's but what I notice is it does sweat, very badly in this Queensland weather, I was worried it would ruin the floor boards, but after reading this maybe he'll be fine. but the foam is sweating badly at night. We put a blanket over the foam so it doesn't touch the skin.
Would putting a cover on this, stop the foam from sweating?
Desertsun41 is dead wrong on this one. I know two people who ruined their floors by putting a futon or a foam mattress on it. The oak flooring molded and curled up. I know this because I fixed these two floors. Not only will the floors be destroyed, but any mattress that is placed directly on a plywood or other continuous firm surface will get moldy from the persons body sweats, etc. If you do this, be sure to air and ideally sun-dry your mattress every week or two.
If you are talking about the Eve mattress, or other similar brands (Casper, etc.), the mattresses can go over either a platform, slats, or a box spring.
