Default Shower Hack to improve shower flow

I found out the other day that, in 1992, Uncle Sam passed a law limiting the flow on showerheads sold in the US. Since then, showerheads have been made with a flow regulator that limits flow (under normal pressure) to 2.5 gallons/minute.

If you have low pressure, however, some of those regulators can lower flow by much more than that. This is my case. We have below average pressure.

SO....I removed the showerhead, unscrewed the particle filter (which you might want to clean anyway), and used a screwdriver and brute force to "open" the regulator just behind the filter. Then I replaced the filter, replaced the showerhead, and now have very good shower flow.

If you have good water flow already, this may be excessive, but if you have low flow, it's wonderful.

Just buy a waterpik. They all come with removable regulators for houses with lower pressure.

I have the same issues in the upstairs bathrooms.
