Default if you could... what would you change about your house?

I'm about to start the process of adding an addition to my house ( which will bring a new master, kitchen, and living room). While its easy to think about the big things such as what countertops, size of room, etc... It's easy to forget about the small stuff and the things about the house that make it functional. For instance, my friend did a great job remodeling. The end result was a beautiful kitchen and granted she had a small space to work with, they forgot about where to put a trash can.

So I thought it would be great to get ideas from homeowners!

What would you change about your house to make everyday living easier or better?

It could be anything from kitchen knife drawer closer to prep area or add a sprinkler system in the backyard...

thanks!

A wider entry way would be nice. The door + one of those wood / window things on both sides, and a 2-story entrance too while I'm at it. Not like either of these are doable.

As far as usefulness of the place there's this corner counter in the kitchen that's impossible to get things out of. Noplace to hang towels near the shower in the bathroom either.

Oh, this is interesting!

I'd make all of my lower kitchen cabinets pull-outs, with a lazy susan in the corner cabinet. (Had one of those once, miss it terribly.) I'd install a pantry next to the mud room. I'd add a half bath. I'd install a "pot hanger".

You still can. Better brand cabinets have the pull outs already installed. They are also add on options from most cabinet manufacturers. If not then there is a company who sells them to fit any with basic "fit all" inserts. Rev-A-Shelf company makes every opion to fit any need in any kitchen.

I would make the insides black and red. I think the walls would look very attractive that way.

I would raise the height on the dishwasher some how, and make the lower cabinets ALL drawers, both would make it easier on the "ole" back. And the micro would not be located over the stove but built in under another cabinet.

My house the thing I want to do most is move it to another state! Now is that a dream or what!

I am at the end of a cul de sac & have NO street parking. I envy the houses that can fit a couple of cars in front of their house on the street.
