Default bugs in shed.... help w/ ID?

I'm new to a southern climate (NC) as well as home ownership after a life in the midwest, and am experiencing all kinds of new things in my first spring in the home I purchased. Most I've been able to work through - but this I can't ID.

There's a wooden shed in the backyard - the previous owners used it as a "man room" - I just use it for minor storage. Upon going in there the other day, I noticed in the crack between the shed and the entrance step, there were a number of thin dark brown bugs. They were about the size and shape of wild rice. They have a few legs on each side, and pointy things coming off both head and tail.

Because of the prevalence of termites in the area, they are my obsession of late, but these just don't look like any termite photos I've seen online. Too thin, too dark, not enough of a "larval" look.

That being said - I'm wondering what they are and what, if anything, I should do about it? Any ideas?

Those eat moist wood. Lay down an insecticide.

Silverfish? Silverfish - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They like glues, books, strachy things.

If they are silverfish, I wouldn't worry about them. They don't eat wood and are mostly harmless.

Seems like you may be describing an earwig? They are harmless.

'Tis the season that's for sure. I have them all over the damn place right now as it is their time of the year to hatch. I'm finding them everywhere outside and the occasional one makes it indoors. They are more of a nuisance than a threat though so if that is all you have count yourself lucky.

YES!!!! The mystery is solved - they are earwigs. Interestingly, I always called something else an earwig growing up, so I've been educated in more ways than one! Awesome - another relatively harmless insect! I really need to get over this termite paranoia!
