Does anybody have a tip on how to remove underarm stains? I think they are probably due to deodorant more than sweat. The usual spray products haven't made any difference at all. Thanks, there are a lot of t-shirts depending on your help.

Yes, didn't help at all, although I generally have success with it on other stains.

Mattie - if you google "remove deodorant stains" or "remove sweat stains" numerous sites
deal with the problem. Some mention white vinegar or even aspirin.

One thing I have used is electric dishwasher detergent. I wash the clothes with one cup of dishwasher detergent and no other detergent. It gets the dinge off whites and removes the underarm stains too. I usually do it about every 3 or 4 times. Use depends on how dirty the clothes get and how severe the stains become.

Pre treating with Simple Green does wonders for oil stains on my driving suit. Never used on anything else.

I'm a stain master, but I've never been successful with underarm stains on white clothes. I understand the main problem is leaving the laundry to wait. If you literally wash something as soon as you take it off, you won't supposedly get underarm stains on clothing. That's not how I do my laundry. I prefer to wait until I have enough of one color for a load. As a result, I replace white shirts yearly.

I'll give that a try but I'm skeptical. I would think that the dryer sets the stains inbetween the times you use the electric dishwashing detergent. I use electric dishwashing detergent for other stains---specifically red clay---by soaking overnight.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a site that recommended white vinegar, so I tried that on one shirt to see if it helped. It didn't, but this particular shirt may just be too far gone. I also tried Fels Naptha laundry soap, which I've always used to remove baseball clay, but again, no luck.

I'm ready to just pitch the white tees, and start all over. I just don't want to see my sons' J Crew, Polo, and other pricier stuff like that fall victim to the same fate.

Is your son old enough to be wearing deoderant? It's my understanding that the stains are really due to deoderant, not actual persperation.
