Default Removing smoke smell from house

I guess the family is used to it, but we have a small office where I like to smoke. No where else in the house. New visitors say they smell it. I do have a smoke eater as well as a couple of candles. What can I do to get some of this smoke smell out?

get rid of the smoker. Its going to be impossible as long as you reintroduce more smoke.

You could try a home air purifier? The ones that actually work are quite expensive... it would be cheaper just to quit smoking - chew gum instead - it actually smells good and they have kinds that can whiten your teeth, too! Get rid of those yellow smoker teeth.

My mother is a smoker, and there is one thing that she does that really makes her house smell free.
She puts vinegar in a plate for a few minutes during the day, and that would eliminate smoke smell.

Clean clean clean, shampoo the carpet, repaint the walls, and quit smoking inside the house.

I had a listing where the seller was a smoker and had two cats and three dogs that lived inside. The odor was relentless

Then she got her Lampe Bergere working. A mixture of 3/4 Neutral to 1/4 Ocean Breeze, burned 45 minutes once a day (she did it in the morning). Next time I walked in the house (we'd tried everything including the expensive air purifier), that house was the freshest smelling house I'd ever been in - and I've been in a lot of houses.

It's not a long-term fix, but for everyday use, it's remarkably effective.

The other thing is to put little pans of vinegar just inside the air intake vents for the central air conditioning. But that's a lot of trouble and you have to keep climbing up and unscrewing the vent covers and replacing the vinegar and replacing the vent covers and putting away the ladder.

If you have a fireplace, smoke at the fire place when fire is lit.....this is usually for cold days
If you're in a room, put a fan at the window to have it face out and smoke by the fan

My four remedies to battle odors (used all at once): candles, open window (either cracked or wide open), plants (help to raise the humidity in the room), and Febreze aerosol. I don't have a small fan, but if I did I'd have it pointing out the window.

By "smoke eater" are you referring to one of those ionic air cleaners? My folks had two large units in their house and it did a nice job of clearing away smoke and food odors so that one could not smell them the following day. These machines are not cheap. I think they paid $500 many years ago. Also it took 24 hours to clear all the smells, this may not work in the area you are smoking in everyday, but perhaps in the rest of the house. They are sold by the square footage needing filtering. You could also look into renting an ozone machine. Property managers and used car dealers use them to get smoke smell and other odors out of apartments and cars.

Remove the carpet and curtains. Re-upholster the furniture. Scrub all the walls cielings and floors with TSP. You will probbaly have to scrup several times to get rid of the tar and odor. We found that dow scrubbing bubbles would help take it off. For us, we had to scrub everythingdown about 15 times. If you have wallpaper remove it and replace it. Once you get the tar out of the paint, you can repaint (use Kilz or the other cover up type primer.
