What's the purpose of this and why would someone put this in a bedroom???

You can look at the home listing and the bedroom pic (hopefully it works.)

They might have been looking for the modern look, and it might been a weight room. Who knows why some people do what they do.

People are weird. But I think the weight room idea is a good guess. That, or an older kid who really loves race cars.

Judging from the color of the walls, it looks like a decorator choice to go with whatever the room was meant to be. A weightroom sounds the best bet. I worry about what is under it.

How ugly. But like some one above me said, people do weird things. I've seen people paint their grass green, paint glass, even paint cabinets. How dumb!!!

Hmm I like the floor. It looks "modern." I think it would make a nice office.

I have been installing floor covering for roughly 20 years and that is without a doubt the strangest floor in a house I have ever seen. When you look at the nice colored wall and painted baseboard it more than looks out of place.
Thanks for the pic,It will be something to discuss with the guys come Monday

It was described as a bedroom/office. Weights might be one reason, work on something that is heavy or involves the use of fire, welding, soldering, glasswork could be other reasons. A floor like that could be a safety factor, especially if a jewelry kiln or other kiln was in the room.

I guess I don't see what's so radical or weird about it. It's just diamond plate. My husband is a "car guy" and would TOTALLY put that in his office if I would let him. It's definately not something that is going to appeal to a lot of people but I don't think it necessarily indicates welding or soldering was going on in there.
