I've been burning my gas fireplace for a couple weeks & my fiance just realized I didn't open the flue. I have 3 dogs that have been down there with me. We all seem fine. Should I take them to the vet & have them checked. I can't believe I could be so stupid.

If it is a tract house and all houses are the same in the neighborhood, ask your neighbors.

Or call the natural gas company and ask. They are many times happy to come out and explain/check things for free. They don't want any accidents.

Also try to find the manufacturer / model number and see if you can find the operating instructions on the internet. (At their web site.)

Or take pictures inside and outside, high and low of chimney. Post here.

Ohmgosh. Anytime you burn anything, you need to let the gases escape. Open it.

I also have a gas fireplace but it shuts itself off if it detects carbon, but I'm still scared about it being in the house. I open doors for fresh air into the house but that seems to defeat the purpose of heating the house. The flue is not open and I'm wandering if it should be. There is a pilot light which stays on and the tip if the flame stays yellow in color. That part seems to be right but the fireplace logs still shuts down and turns itself off and beeps until air is clear but I'm still scared. I never leave it on continuously because it will make the room to hot. It doesn't have a glass door or anything. Should the flue still be opened?

I have a flueless, natural gas fireplace. Quite common in new construction aound here.
My stand alone heater if ventless. The area behind it has a slight airflow which I just consider a back up. But the way it works is the fumes are coverted to moist heat. But its not just a standalone flame. If there isn't a casing over it I'd just assume it was vented. Or if there is some sort of vent or tube attached.

If it has a company name and model number then call a specialist and ask. I'd not take the chance of being wrong by closing the flue.

I have a propane fireplace that was converted from wood burning and want to know if I can close the flue when I'm not using it and do I leave the glass doors open or closed while a fire is going.
