BREAKERS WEST, Fla., Sept. 28 (UPI) -- A Florida man whose roof was removed by workers who confused his house for a neighbor's said he is demanding his roof be replaced free of charge.

David Fischer, 76, said he was forced to return home early from a vacation this summer when Bossler Roofing contacted him to say the roof of his Breakers West house had mistakenly been removed, WPTV, West Palm Beach, Fla., reported Monday.

Dang straight. Typical Florida doings. That's what the contractor is insured for, and to ask the wronged homeowner to pay his deductable is over the top $$ and unethical.
I'd be taking the story to every news station & paper in the area.
I guess those workers, the schedulers and such, who screwed up are now among the #s of unemployed.
Aside from taking the contractor to court to finish the job, I'd appeal to the judge to pay for the ruined vacation too! Along with attorney fees.

Absolutely no question that this guy gets a new roof - along with all expenses. And they better use top-quality shingles.

I just thought...what if the court said he had to pay either a discount or allow his insurance to pay and the man just pay the deductible....

this would be an open call for workers to remove roofs of houses 'by mistake' and get paid! What a large scale scam....floodgates would be open.
