Quiet Walk is an excellent underlayment for laminates, but the mfr. does not recommend it for fastener-installed hardwoods ("nail-down") that are thinner than 3/8" and/or less than 3" wide. Their reasoning is that the lack of density in the Quiet Walk may actually cause movement in the hardwoods which could cause boards to become loose and pop out and also cause them to squeak. They make a product called Insulayment that is recommended for the nail-down hardwoods.

I like it when the floors squeak and creak.
