RussianSky is on a distinguished road
Default Question about flags in the garden/at home...

I know its common to see some houses in america with the american flag on it.
Is it legal for us, legal inmigrants to change the american flag of our homes and put the flag of our countries, in this case, the Russian one?.
Its a way to show im proud of my heritage, not trying to offend americans.
Thx.

I have a great deal of respect for immigrants, pride for your native homeland is important. I can’t say that flying the Russian flag or any other nation’s is illegal, however if you fly that flag you might want to fly both the American and Russian flags. This way you are showing others that you have pride in your homeland and respect for this nation as well.

I’ve seen several Irish Americans who place their homeland flag inside the house on the appropriate wall of a room.

IMO

When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should about the same size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace. The order of precedence for flags generally is National flag (US first, then others in alphabetical order in English).

I would think that others may perceive it negatively if you display just one, Russian flag. As if you are protesting the country you are in. So, I too would recommend that you show both the US and Russian flag if you wish.

Just my opinion.

We have a little thing in the US Constitution called the First Amendment and it is applicable to citizens and non-citizens alike. America is a great country - fly whatever flag you want!

I agree that the best idea (to avoid offending anyone) would be to fly both flags. If you happen to live under the CC&R's of a homeowners assoiciation you might need to check with board to make sure that they allow ANY flags. It's wonderful IMHO to see people who are proud of their heritage.
