I did the food coloring test with my berkey light purification system (twice) and it didn't work. I followed the instructions and make sure the wing nuts are securely tightened. Anyone know what I should try before returning the system? Thanks.

Did you prime the unit properly?

surface water tension needs to be released by priming. Also re-check the wing nuts, prime and try again

Did you use red food coloring. That's the first thing. It only works with red food coloring. Otherwise, nhmaster is right about checking the tightness, etc. They should replace the black berkey for free though if it fails. how long have you had it?
