We just bought a Lennar Home and notice that there is a ticking/clicking sound coming from all the a/c vents when the heat or air is running (more noticeable when the air/heat is first turned on but sometimes we hear it much longer).
The builder states that this is normal (and something about it being the air that is running the the metal tubing or something) but we wanted to check here.
I have an older furnace and also hear a ticking noise. More like a rattling / shaking noise. We called the HVAC guys who serviced it before we moved in and told me that there is a motor which is shutting down before the furnace cycle turns off. When the motor stops, there's a fan inside which is off balance and is creating the rattling noise which can be heard throughout the whole house. They are coming out this weekend for a tune-up and also to re-balance the motor. May not be the same issue as yours, but this may shed some light. good luck!
Most likely it's expansion of the supply boots. The metal expands when the warm air hits it. And/or it could be the plenum (if it was built in sheetmetal). Somewhat of an annoyance, but tends to go away after awhile.
I have the samething in my house, at the first week of firing the furnace.
