That family deserved the help. I remember the local news doing a story about them shortly after Ike hit and really wanted to help (shortly after the electric finally came back on that is). I was volunteering helping some elderly folks in Jamaica Beach back then. I couldn't volunteer this time because of my medical problems but I'm glad there was a good turn out.

It was an awesome turnout despite the below freezing temps during the night shifts. It was a very skinny street and a dead end as well so everyone was bussed in and out. Lots of rain made the heavy machinery practically sink so we used those wooden blankets to drive on so nothing would sink in the mud. This home is about 6 times bigger then the next biggest home on the block. Everyone has 3.8 acres over there.

So will this family be able to afford the insurance, taxes, utilities and upkeep on so large a home?

Lets hope so crazyma. The show producers have taken steps so these families will not have to struggle anymore. Most of that is not information made public. The show does not need any more bad publicity with more foreclosures.

I always 'worry' about these families and think some kind of financial counseling is in order, when their circumstances change to such a degree. As you say, hopefully the producers are being proactive in preventing future losses.

The house looks gorgeous. This week they put a huge home up outside of Loris, SC also.
Jeff Gordon was there. The home is for a very deserving family......a young girl who took in her siblings and also has a family of her own.
I think it will air also in March.
Most of the time there is a large amount of money given, and put away, for the taxes and expenses
on these homes.
Myrtle Beach now has a steady worker on the show Kyle, who started two years ago on a home done here in Longs, SC.
Our builders here have helped with other homes in New Orleans........Great group these Extreme Home builders.
